Earth Brown & Clay

SOUTHWEST

The Ogeechee River side. The island's most sheltered face, where the tidal marsh extends inland and storms arrive first. The live oaks on the southwest slope are the largest on the island — they have been stopping wind for centuries. Work made here tends toward introspection.

This gallery is open for submission. Artists who have visited Ossabaw Island and made work facing this direction may apply to have their work included. The compass galleries are the island's distributed archive — organized not by medium or period but by orientation. By what the artist faced.
