No architecture built by hands matches a live oak grove at midday. The branches do not reach up — they reach out, creating a ceiling that moves and filters light and makes the ground beneath something sacred. These trees have been growing since before the Spanish missions. The Guale people knew this grove. The planters knew it. Every artist who came to Ossabaw eventually found their way here. The grove is the island's interior cathedral, and it requires no explanation.
