THE CROSSING
Film Photography — Ossabaw Marsh
// on this work //
The marsh does not end where the water begins. Reed and current and sky become one continuous thing, a landscape without hard edges. To stand here is to understand why artists came and why they struggled to leave. The tidal creek runs south toward the sound. At high water this entire frame is different. The island is in constant renegotiation with the sea — it has been since the Guale people fished these creeks four thousand years ago.
