Storm Grey & Khaki

NORTHWEST

Where storms enter the island. The northwest quadrant receives weather first — summer thunderheads building over the Georgia interior, the cold fronts of winter, the occasional named storm. Artists stationed here worked under pressure they could not have arranged in any city. The paintings made facing northwest tend toward the dramatic, for obvious reasons.

This gallery is open for submission. Artists who have visited Ossabaw Island and made work facing this direction may apply to have their work included. The compass galleries are the island's distributed archive — organized not by medium or period but by orientation. By what the artist faced.
